SPAIN – The 17-year-old Barcelona-based Filipina who died after a hit-and-run accident early this month wished that her family would spend the least money possible on her burial and just give everything to her 1-year-old son.

The victim Angelica Manongsong Dalisay preferred to be cremated because this would incur less expense on her family.

According to her mother Siony, that was her daughter’s wish, which came out while they were attending a funeral together a week before the tragic accident.

The fatal accident took place on May 2, around 10 p.m. while Dalisay was crossing on a pedestrian lane with her son and her boyfriend at the Avenida Joan Carles I in the Barcelona municipality of Gavà.

Abe further told ABS-CBNnews.com that Dalisay was rushed to the Hospital de Bellvitge but the doctor right away said that the patient was severely wounded and the nurse whom Abe talked to said that Dalisay had no chance of surviving.

Dalisay’s son and her boyfriend were left uninjured.

The Catalan autonomous government Generalitat de Catalunya has already extended support to the family while the local police are undertaking investigations to find out the driver’s identity based on the recordings from CCTV in the area and the pieces of evidence left by the car.

Philippine Honorary Consul Jordi Puig and Kapulungan ng mga Lider Pinoy sa Barcelona (KALIPI) leader Macrina Alcedo went to Tanatorio Gran Via L’Hospitalet, where a funeral service was held, to express their condolences to the family.

Dalisay’s family continues to seek justice.

Abe wished that justice be served regardless of Dalisay’s nationality.

Originally published on ABS-CBNnews.com
